Childhood fears
Childhood fears by Joshua Hoffine
When I was a child I had many fears and consequently many theories to overcome them.
I was scared of going to the bathroom at night, but if I woke up my sister and she turned on the light nothing bad would happen to me.
I was scared of sleeping alone, but if I stayed without moving under the blanket nothing bad would happen to me.
I was scared of being alone at home, but if the TV was turned on nothing bad would happen to me.
I was scared of seeing horror movies, but if I saw them until the end and after I could go to my mother's bedroom nothing bad would happen to me.
The fears were justifiable, but the theories I just made them up, because they were so pathetically comforting.
Now I don't have the same fears, the fears changed, unfortunately they will always be there. I just wished for the presence of theories as well, so nothing bad would happen to me.
